MOGLORD · WEB STORY
The normal range, the warning signs, and the line between them.
THE NORMAL
Every head sheds daily as follicles cycle. Hair on the pillow or in the drain is usually just that cycle.
THE MATH
Losing 100 of 100,000 is 0.1% a day — and each shed hair is normally replaced by a new one growing in.
SIGN 1
Receding temples or a thinning crown that keeps progressing is pattern hair loss, not normal shedding.
SIGN 2
Heavy shedding 2–3 months after fever, surgery or crash dieting is usually temporary — it regrows.
SIGN 3
Round bald patches, an itchy red scalp or thick scales point to a scalp condition. See a dermatologist.
SIGN 4
If you can suddenly see scalp under normal light across the top, density is dropping. Worth a check.
THE TEST
Pinch ~40 hairs and pull gently. More than 6 coming out suggests active shedding worth checking.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Daily fall under 100 is fine; patterns and patches are not. Take the 2-minute hair shedding check.
